This is Jeremey Johnson’s arrangement for the classic, “You Are So Beautiful,” released in 1974. The song was written by Billy Preston & Bruce Fisher and first appeared on Billy Preston’s album, “The Kids & Me.” Joe Cocker created a slower version of the song that was on his “I Can Stand a Little Rain” album in 1975. The song took off and it ended up being one of his biggest hits. Cocker’s version of the song topped the Weekly US Billboard Hot 100 at spot number 5 in March of 1975 and number 4 on Canada’s Top Singles. His rendition is what has helped carry the song’s popularity through the years.
You Are So Beautiful’s familiar lyrics and recognizable melody help make this a great contestable song for any barbershop ensemble, whether it’s a quartet or a chorus.
